Description

About Recare

As one of the leading German HealthTech companies, we are reshaping discharge management – technology-driven, patient-centered, and free from bureaucracy. In addition to our market-leading SaaS platform, we develop AI solutions that radically simplify processes in hospitals and for aftercare providers, relieve healthcare professionals, and refocus attention on patients. Today, we already connect two-thirds of all German hospitals with over 650 rehabilitation clinics and 25,000 nursing and homecare providers. With currently around 100 employees, we continue to grow – and we are looking for people with character who want to help us improve the healthcare system and solve administrative complexity across care journeys in Europe.

What to expect as our Software Engineer (Frontend) (m/w/d):

  • Purposeful work – your role will have a positive impact on patients, their families, and healthcare professionals.

  • Company culture – we believe in flat hierarchies that promote high performance and strong team dynamics. We foster an environment characterized by mutual respect, loyalty, and recognition. Together, we strive for our goals – and expect the same from you.

  • Flexibility – want to pick up your child from daycare? Like to exercise during lunch? We’ll support you. We are a remote-friendly company offering flexible working hours. Workations are also possible by arrangement.

  • Edenred card – which you can use according to your needs.

  • Extra vacation day – so you can celebrate your birthday with your loved ones, you’ll have the day off.

In this role, you can make an impact and grow with us as Software Engineer (Frontend) (m/w/d):

You will evolve our Extract + Docs product – enabling hospital staff to upload, process, and structure documents with the help of AI. Your work will turn complex processes into clear, reliable UI flows that guide users through document handling, extraction, and form creation in a fast and intuitive way.

  • You develop the Extract + Docs product, focusing on document upload, management, and AI-assisted workflows.

  • You implement UI flows for document handling, extraction triggers, status/progress tracking, and robust error handling.

  • You integrate backend and AI APIs, handling async flows such as polling, status updates, and client-side state management.

  • You ensure a smooth and reliable user experience across browsers, with strong attention to performance and accessibility.

  • You write tests across unit, integration, and end-to-end levels, contributing to a strong testing culture.

  • You own features end-to-end – from implementation to production, including shipping, monitoring, fixing, and iterating.

  • You collaborate closely with Product, Design, and QA to iterate quickly and improve workflows continuously.

How we build:

We use a modern frontend stack to build and ship highly interactive, data-heavy workflows that must be fast, reliable, and safe to use in production healthcare environments.

  • React and TypeScript

  • Apollo (GraphQL proxy layer; REST-based backend services)

  • HeroUI with styled-components

  • Storybook (component-driven development)

  • Webpack 5 (with parts gradually migrating to Vite / SWC)

  • CircleCI (Jest, Cypress, visual regression testing)

  • SonarCloud (code quality & security analysis)

Here’s how we picture you as our Software Engineer (Frontend) (m/w/d):

  • You bring 4+ years of frontend engineering experience building production-grade web applications.

  • You have strong fundamentals in React and TypeScript, including components, hooks, state management, and testing.

  • You understand how to integrate APIs and build reliable async user experiences (loading states, retries, polling, edge cases).

  • You think in terms of product and user experience, and you care about clarity, speed, and safe defaults in UI design.

  • You take ownership of your work – you ship features end-to-end and ensure they perform reliably in production.

  • You communicate clearly in a remote-first environment and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • You care about data privacy and security when handling sensitive documents and patient data.

  • You communicate confidently in English and are comfortable operating in an international environment.

  • Nice to have: experience with complex form UIs, accessibility, performance optimization, or document/PDF workflows.
