We help Airbnb hosts set competitive prices by providing market intelligence, comparable listing data, and demand signals. Additionally, we build advanced tools for seamless calendar management. As a critical component of Airbnb's business and a pillar of trust within our host community, we partner with the Search, Listings, Tax, and Payments teams to ensure accuracy and consistency across our pricing systems.</p> <h2>The Difference You Will Make</h2> <p>As a Staff Engineer on the Host Pricing and Availability team, you will drive the technical strategy and delivery of Airbnb's pricing product roadmap. You will collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Data Science to architect scalable solutions with clear domain boundaries, while continuously enhancing the performance, efficiency, and impact of our end-to-end architecture.</p> <h2>A Typical Day</h2> <ul> <li>Architect and lead the technical strategy for our pricing and availability backend systems, ensuring APIs, services, and data pipelines are robust today and evolve alongside business needs.</li> <li>Lead the development and optimization of Airbnb’s core pricing and availability products.</li> <li>Collaborate with product engineers and cross-functional partners to develop new host pricing functionality and calendar management tools.</li> <li>Contribute to the long-term backend system architecture within the Host Pricing organization.</li> <li>Champion engineering excellence by establishing architectural standards and mentoring senior engineers to elevate the organization's technical maturity.</li> </ul> <h2>Your Expertise</h2> <ul> <li>9+ years of engineering experience with a BS/MS or PhD in CS or similar</li> <li>Proven track record of leading teams, setting technical strategy, and launching high-impact product features</li> <li>Expertise with backend systems in large-scale service-oriented architectures.</li> <li>Experience influencing cross-functional partners and engineering teams.</li> <li>Good judgment in making tradeoffs to balance short-term business needs with long-term technical quality.</li> <li>Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills.</li> <li>Strong problem-solving and production debugging abilities.</li> </ul> <p><span style="color: #000000; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><strong>Your Location:</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">This position is US - Remote Eligible. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
